Coenen, Wallace “Wally” Town of Center After a long illness, Wallace “Wally” Arthur Coenen passed peacefully away in his sleep on Thursday February 1, 2007, surrounded by his caring family. Wally was born October 26, 1938 and was one of five children of John J. and Geneva (Nichols) Coenen. Wally lived in the Fox Valley all of his life. As a child he was active in 4H and continued his enthusiasm for farming as an adult helping friends and neighbors in the farming community. He and his wife Kathleen (Nussbaum) Coenen were proud parents of 4 children and 28 foster children. Wally was a creative decorative blacksmith, he loved to play pool and fish. He was an active member of the Two Cylinder Club, a retiree of Neenah Foundry, and a member of St. Edwards Parish up to his death. Wally is survived by sons James and Christopher Coenen, sisters Virginia Straub, Eileen Pogrant, and Alice Fahrety, and his brother Gene Coenen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy, son Tommy, and daughter Suezanne. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday February 6 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville, with the Rev. Charles Brooks officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 pm on Monday February 5, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. Parish Vigil Service Monday at 7 pm at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery, Mackville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Free SPIRIT Riders in Fond du lac: Free SPIRIT Riders, PO Box 1291, Fond du lac, WI 54936-1291. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Manor Care, and Mike, Michael, and Barb of Heartland Hospice.
